PTSD changes our brain in the following ways:
Amygdala is affected and becomes hyperactive, high fears, thoughts of danger, may shrink in size, and hard to calm down.
Hippocampus is affected with issues with memory, can’t differentiate with past traumas from here and now, may shrink in size.
Prefrontal cortex is affected by rational brain offset, dysregulation of emotions, struggles to manage fears.
