John McCord is a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor who believes in the transformative power of self-understanding. He provides a warm, nonjudgmental space where you can be seen, heard, and supported as you work toward meaningful change. Whether you’re navigating relationship challenges, life transitions, anxiety, or patterns that keep you stuck, John will meet you with curiosity, compassion, and practical tools to help you move forward.

John works with teens and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, life transitions, and addiction-related concerns. He meets clients wherever they are in their journey and provides steady support through both progress and setbacks. John has training in Gottman level 1 for couples. He sees couples in person or virtual.

As an LGBT+ male therapist, John is especially passionate about supporting members of the community. He understands the importance of working with a therapist who genuinely understands your lived experiences and is committed to helping clients find their voices, navigate identity-related challenges, and overcome discrimination. His goal is to help clients reshape their personal narratives and move toward meaningful growth and healing.

John’s practice is grounded in Person-Centered and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), approaches that combine deep empathy with evidence-based strategies to help you understand yourself and build new ways of coping. He has also completed training in Gottman Couples Counseling and Internal Family Systems (IFS), which he draws on when working with couples and when exploring the many parts of a person’s inner life.
